Arts commission awards 13 grants

The town’s Commission for the Arts has awarded 13 grants totaling more than $9,000 to support local cultural programs such as electronic music concerts, a teen mural project, and a Japanese cultural performance this year. The commission will honor the grant recipients during a ceremony at the Public Library of Brookline’s main branch on May 12 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Programs chosen by the local board, which distributes funds provided by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, include the Baker School’s art show featuring students in kindergarten through eighth grade, the Bee Bear Book Club, Genki Spark, and Dance Caliente .
