Panel offers medical marijuana bylaw

At the most recent meeting of the Board of Selectmen, the Medical Marijuana Study Committee presented its proposed amendment regulating where dispensaries could be sited in town. The proposal stipulates that a registered marijuana dispensary must be within a business district, excluding Carlisle Center, and would require a special permit from the Planning Board. The proposed amendment also excludes sites within 1,000 feet of a recognized gathering place likely to host children, such as a church, recreation facility, or day-care center. Currently, only three sites in town would meet the necessary criteria for a dispensary. A vote on the amendment is scheduled for Town Meeting on April 28.
