‘Small Steps’ to a greener garden

Join the Millis Garden Club at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Millis Public Library for a special presentation by horticulturalist Betty Sanders. In her free program, “Small Steps: A Homeowner’s Guide to Greening the Garden,’’ Sanders will show how a series of modest, continuing efforts can reinvigorate a garden and benefit the environment. She will discuss landscaping techniques that improve energy efficiency, house plants that remove toxins from inside a home, selecting plants to protect native species, and composting, among other topics, and will explain how the benefits of these small steps extend beyond the home. Sanders is widely known for her writing and lectures on gardening topics, and offers horticultural hints online at www.bettyongardening.com. Snow date and location is Feb. 26, at the Veterans Memorial Building.
