The Needham Historical Society is hosting a reception to celebrate the dedication of a room in its headquarters in honor of the late Daniel “Bud” Roche, cofounder of Roche Bros. Supermarkets chain and a longtime Needham resident who died last fall, officials said. Executive director Gloria Greis said Roche played a key role in the society relocating to the more spacious and accessible facility near Newman Elementary School in 2006, and was one of the first to give a generous donation to move two local historic houses onto the property. The open house and dedication of the Daniel Roche Room will take place next Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Needham Historical Society’s building at 1147 Central Ave. Refreshments will be served.
