A historical look at surviving winter

As winter weather continues to bombard New England, the Northborough Historical Society invites area residents to a warm evening indoors on Friday to learn about winter survival techniques of our ancestors. The 7:30 p.m. presentation, entitled “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” will be given by historical interpreter Patricia Perry in the society’s headquarters at 50 Main St. She will discuss how previous generations survived the challenges of bitterly cold winters without the help of central heating and electronic devices. The free presentation will also offer details about the clothing, tools, and activities people invented to keep themselves safe and entertained during the long winter months.
