Day center, Brandeis collaborate on homeless survey

The Community Day Center of Waltham, a day shelter that serves homeless people and others needing support services, is partnering with Brandeis University students to survey its clients and pinpoint their mental and physical health needs. The survey began Monday and will run through the end of this week, said Marilyn Lee-Tom, the center’s director. She said the results will help the center implement its health services and programs, and it will share the findings at local forums and with area hospitals. “We’re excited to see the results of the survey and what it can tell us, and see if there’s any policy implications,” Lee-Tom said. About 100 people will be interviewed, which takes about 30 to 45 minutes, she said. The Brandeis students helped draft the survey and interview the subjects. For more information or to help with the survey, contact Lee-Tom at director@communitydaycenter.org.
