‘Folklorist’ adds Comcast to regional network
“The Folklorist,’’ a regional Emmy Award-winning series produced by Newton’s nonprofit local-access cable television operation, has been made available on demand to Comcast XFINITY customers throughout New England. The program, produced at NewTV’s Needham Street studios, has been available on demand for RCN customers for the past month, and was made an option for the additional audience as of Monday, April 27. “With the addition of Comcast’s 2 million subscribers in New England, ‘The Folklorist’ is now airing in over 60 million homes nationwide,” NewTV executive director Bob Kelly said in an announcement on the expansion. “Hidden history is now being revealed on a grand stage.” The show re-creates episodes in history through reenactments and narration, with subjects ranging from the Cuban missile crisis to the Dover Demon, a creepy, animal-like figure reportedly seen in Dover by three separate groups of teenagers over two nights in 1977.
