Lincoln-based Food Project seeks cyclists for fund-raiser

The Lincoln-based Food Project will again host a team for the Ride for Food, which will be held Sept. 20. The event, in its fourth year, is designed to create awareness about hunger in area communities, and to raise money to support the Food Project and 13 other hunger relief organizations. Riders leave from the Noble & Greenough School campus in Dedham with a choice of 10-, 25-, or 50-mile routes that will return them to the school for a lunch and awards ceremony. Cyclists can register at www.therideforfood.org. Each rider commits to raise a minimum of $1,000 on a best-efforts basis. Those interested in volunteering and supporting the Food Project’s team can register by entering “virtual rider” in the offer code. Last year’s Ride for Food raised $210,000 for 11 area organizations committed to battling hunger locally. This year, the goal is to raise $300,000.
