Concert will support creative arts in Newton schools

Support creative arts and science enrichment programming in the Newton public schools on Friday, April 8, at a concert featuring Crocodile River Music, a world music ensemble. Tickets for the adults-only concert at Newton South High School are $35, include light fare and an open bar, and will benefit the Parent Teacher Organization’s Creative Arts & Sciences program fund. The fund provides support for a broad range of programs, bringing more than 300 presentations to the city’s public schools this school year — 48 in March alone — according to Stacey Moriarty, director of the Creative Arts and Sciences Committee. Returning to Newton’s schools after a visit in the fall, Crocodile River Music bring audiences on a world tour with music, instruments, and dancing from Mali, Brazil, Spain, and Trinidad. Tickets can be purchased online at newton.k12.ma.us/CASC.
