Arlington has added more disability placard parking spaces in the town’s business districts. Twenty-seven new spaces bring the total on-street handicap spaces in the business districts to 50. Arlington Public Works began implementing the new spaces last fall and recently completed their installation with markings to be added in the coming weeks. Endorsed by Town Meeting and approved by the Board of Selectmen in 2016, the spaces were added in response to requests from the business community and persons with disabilities. “Accessibility is vital for full participation in the community,’’ Cynthia DeAngelis, chairwoman of the Commission of Disabilities, said in a prepared statement. “The addition of these HP parking spaces shows that the town of Arlington welcomes people with disabilities, both residents and visitors.’’
