Wellesley seeking feedback on number of bar seats in town establishments

The Wellesley Board of Selectmen is seeking public feedback on a proposal to remove the cap allowing only 10 bar seats per establishment in town. The board will hold a public hearing Monday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall on the proposal, which would modify regulations governing the operation of establishments licensed to sell all alcoholic beverages or wine and malt beverages. According to the notice of the hearing, the proposal comes in response to a change in dining establishment design and an increase in those eating alone. The regulations would continue to limit the number of bar seats at any establishment to 10 percent of the number of interior seats within it.
