Newton mayor named Mount Ida College fellow

Setti Warren may be stepping aside as Newton’s mayor after his term ends in January, but he’ll remain close to the city as he joins Mount Ida College as a visiting fellow. Warren, a Newton native who has served as mayor for two terms, will teach in Mount Ida’s political science and pre-law programs, the school said in a statement. He will work with students on civic engagement and service learning initiatives, as well as help with the college’s fund-raising and community relations. The Newton campus has about 1,500 students and offers about 40 majors, according to the school’s website. Last year, Warren decided against seeking a third mayoral term in order to run as a Democratic candidate for governor.
