An artist talk, a new college vice president, and an art show

The 13FOREST Gallery in Arlington will host a reception and artist talk with artist Allison Maria Rodriguez Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. The talk is titled “In the Presence of Absence: an Exploration of Ecological and Cultural Loss.” The Tufts University alumna is a Boston-based artist working mostly with new media, film, and installation. She covers themes ranging from human migration to species extinction. Her film, “In the Presence of Absence,” will be on view at the gallery through Nov. 11. Business strategist Eric Turner has recently been named vice president of the Graduate and Professional Studies division at Lasell College in Auburndale. He is currently an emeritus member of the college’s board of trustees. In this new role, he hopes to expand programming for available educational and career development opportunities. Before taking on this position, Turner worked as an independent management consultant.

On Saturday, Nov. 11, there will be an art show at St. Paul’s Parish Hall in Hopkinton from 1 to 5 p.m. It will feature oil paintings, woodworking, photography, and homemade crafts. Hosted by St. Paul’s Single Again group, the show is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 508-435-4536.
