URI offering minisemester in January

The University of Rhode Island is offering students a minisemester in January to help them get ahead on their studies or pursue specialized classes not offered during the regular school year. The so-called J semester will feature a shortened schedule running from Jan. 2 to Jan. 17, ending just before the start of the spring semester. The minisemester’s offerings will include some pre-requisite and general education courses designed to help students working toward graduation. Other classes are more specialized, including one on politics and the Vietnam War, and a jazz history course that involves a trip to New Orleans.
