Lowell recreational marijuana shop to open this Saturday

Patriot Care Corp.

The Merrimack Valley’s first recreational marijuana shop will open in Lowell this Saturday, becoming the 12th store to sell recreational marijuana in Massachusetts.

Patriot Care Corp., which operates medical dispensaries in Boston, Greenfield, and Lowell, received its “commence operations” notice for Lowell from the state’s Cannabis Control Commission on Monday, which gave it the ability to open for recreational sales after three calendar days.

Patriot Care also has a final license from the state to start adult-use sales at its Greenfield location.

By Saturday, the state will have 11 stores actively selling recreational marijuana, with Caroline’s Cannabis in Uxbridge launching adult-use sales Friday.

Alternative Therapies Group in Salem has also received full approval from the state to operate but temporarily closed last month after an issue logging its inventory in the state’s seed-to-sale tracking system. The store has not said when it plans to begin recreational sales again.

If you plan to visit Patriot Care in Lowell, here’s what you need to know:

Where is the store?

The store is located at 70 Industrial Ave. East in Lowell.

What are the hours?

The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Parking

The parking directly outside the dispensary will be reserved for medical patients and anyone needing a handicapped spot.

The Lowell store will have two satellite parking lots, each of which will have shuttle buses to bring customers between the lots and the store. One of the lots is also just a short walk away.

Customers can park at either of the following two satellite lots:

190 Plain St. in Lowell

30 Industrial Ave. East in Lowell.

Payment

Customers can pay with cash, or with a cashless ATM system and CanPay, both of which traditionally allow customers to use their debit cards.

Purchasing limits

Patriot Care will have limits for adult-use sales on its opening day, but the limits have not been announced.

Beyond opening day, Patriot Care said it hopes to offer adult-use customers a full range of products without any limits, aside from the limits mandated by the state (1 ounce of flower or 5 grams of marijuana concentrate).
