Two killed in Pa. crash of college bus


CARLISLE — A tour bus carrying a Seton Hall University lacrosse team to a game went off the Pennsylvania Turnpike and struck a tree Saturday, killing the driver and a pregnant coach, and injuring several others. Authorities said Kristina Quigley, 30, died at a hospital. Quigley was about six months pregnant and her unborn child did not survive.


Bracelet was cut before hijacking

ALBANY — Probation officials are investigating how a man charged with possessing child pornography managed to cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet before hijacking a woman’s car, fatally stabbing her, and raping her 10-year-old-daughter, authorities said. David J. Renz abducted a school librarian and her daughter Thursday night.


Weather helps crews fight fire


FORT COLLINS — Calmer weather was helping crews fighting a wildfire that has scorched between 750 and 1,000 acres west of Fort Collins. Larimer County authorities said strong winds that caused havoc Friday died down by Saturday morning, and many of the residents who were forced to leave the area were allowed to return home.
