David Simon calls for riots to end

David Simon, a journalist, author, and television producer, wrote blog posts Monday night about the riots in Baltimore in which he called for the riots to end.

“The anger and the selfishness and the brutality of those claiming the right to violence in Freddie Gray’s name needs to cease,” he wrote.

“If you can’t seek redress and demand reform without a brick in your hand, you risk losing this moment for all of us in Baltimore.”

Simon was a journalist at the Baltimore Sun and author of a book that was the basis for the television show “Homicide: Life on the Street” and he was creator of the HBO’ “The Wire,” a critically acclaimed show that depicted the stark realities of life on the streets of Baltimore.
