Less than a day after President Donald Trump took office, demonstrators took to the streets more than 600 cities around the world to blast the newly minted leader and demand fair treatment for women, minorities, and other groups.

In Boston, the rally also included mass produced signs from Planned Parenthood, the American Civil Liberties Union, and labor unions.

But what stood out the most was the wide variety of homemade signs, displaying messages that went well beyond women’s issues. Some protesters had spent hours making them in advance, others spontaneously scribbled on poster boards at the rally.
