Shortly after The Boston Globe reported that Kevin Spacey was due to face criminal charges in Nantucket in an alleged sex assault, the actor broke his Twitter silence to post an eyebrow-raising video along with the caption, “Let Me Be Frank.”
In the video, Spacey appeared to assume the character and likeness of Frank Underwood, the dangerously ambitious politician-turned-president in the popular Netflix series, “House of Cards,” to go on a three-minute-long monologue.

“I told you my deepest, darkest secrets. I showed you exactly what people are capable of. I shocked you with my honesty, but mostly I challenged you and made you think. And you trusted me. Even though you knew you shouldn’t,” he said, in the sinister Southern accent he used to portray Underwood.

Spacey was cut from the final season of “House of Cards” amid allegations of sexual misconduct in 2017. (The eight-episode season was released this fall and featured Underwood’s wife, Claire — played by Robin Wright — as the main character.)
“I know what you want. You want me back. Of course, some believed everything and have just been waiting with bated breath to hear me confess it all. They’re just dying to have me declare that everything said is true and that I got what I deserved. Wouldn’t that be easy? If it was all so simple? . . . But you wouldn’t believe the worst without evidence, would you? You wouldn’t rush to judgment without facts, would you? Did you?”
He continued: “If I didn’t pay the price for the things we both know I did do, I’m certainly not going to pay the price for the things I didn’t do. Oh, of course they're going to say I’m being disrespectful not playing by the rules, like I ever played by anyone’s rules before.

“I never did. And you loved it.”
Spacey-as-Underwood ended his video by pointing out that “House of Cards” fans never actually saw the death of his murderous character, which proved a point of intrigue in the sixth and final season.
He then slipped on the heavy class ring that his character wore on the show.
“Conclusions can be so deceiving. Miss me?”
Spacey’s tweet was the first he posted to Twitter since Oct. 30, 2017, in which he came out as a gay man in response to being accused of molestation by actor Anthony Rapp. (That move was widely criticized as an effort to distract from the accusations.)
The tweet also came about 20 minutes after the Globe reported Monday that Spacey is facing a felony charge for allegedly sexually assaulting the teenage son of former Boston WCVB-TV news anchor Heather Unruh at a Nantucket bar in July 2016. Spacey is due to be arraigned on a charge of indecent assault and battery at Nantucket District Court on Jan. 7.
It is unclear whether the video and the news of Spacey’s arraignment were connected.
Attorneys for Spacey could not immediately be reached for comment.
