Giffords, the Arizona Democrat who was shot in the head in a 2011 mass shooting, has been a strong supporter of Clinton, appearing with the Democratic front-runner for president at events.
“I’m fed up,” Giffords says in the new TV spot. “We have a gun violence problem, so I’m voting for Hillary Clinton. She’s tough. She will stand up to the gun lobby. She will fight to make our families safer. It matters.”
Clinton has worked to frame herself as much stronger proponent of gun control than her opponent, US Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
The Clinton campaign said the 30-second spot begins airing this weekend in Boston and Springfield as a part of a six-figure television buy.
