The star of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’ Portland, Oregon rally wasn’t the Vermont senator.
A bird flew onto Sanders’ podium during his speech. The crowd went nuts.
Sanders thought the interruption was symbolic.
“I know it doesn’t look like it, but that bird is really a dove asking us for world peace,” Sanders said. “No more wars.”
Soon thereafter, #BirdieSanders was trending on Twitter:
Sanders will face Hillary Clinton in caucuses in Alaska, Hawaii, and Washington state on Saturday.
