Curt Schilling has endorsed Donald Trump, which should come as no surprise to anyone who knows about his political leanings.
Schilling, a former pitcher for the Red Sox, provided the endorsement in a blog post published Friday titled “Why I will vote for Donald Trump.”
While Schilling has been critical of Trump in the past — he said ”there has been no depth to anything he’s said” when asked about the candidate in March — he seems to have changed his mind.
In the blog post, Schilling wrote that “I’ve known Mr. Trump for a little over a decade... I realized very quickly this was a man decisive in action and confident in his ability.”
Schilling provided three reasons why he’s in Trump’s camp.
• “I trust him.”
• “He loves this country.”
• “I firmly believe that to know the real heart and soul of a man you look at his children.”
Schilling also discussed “you frauds in the liberal media” and how he doesn’t want Trump “to stop the name calling.”
Schilling, who was fired from ESPN in April for comments he made on Facebook, hasn’t been quiet about his conservative leanings. He criticized Hillary Clinton during a radio interview in March, saying, “If she’s allowed to get to the general election before she’s in prison, I’ll be stunned and upset, because I think she’s shown her true colors all along the way.”
