Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was scheduled to return Wednesday to Boston for a campaign fund-raiser featuring rock star Jon Bon Jovi.
The evening event at the Westin Boston Waterfront was just hours after Bon Jovi is scheduled to appear with Clinton at a rally in New Jersey. The Garden State holds their presidential primary on Tuesday, along with California and a handful of other states.
While Donald Trump has wrapped up the Republican nomination, Clinton is still engaged in a primary with US Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont. However that battle is expected to be all but finished on Tuesday, when Clinton is on track to exceed the number of delegates she needs to clinch the nomination at the party’s convention in July.
Tickets for the Boston event started at $45 for young professionals and went up to $10,000 to co-chair the event. Proceeds will go to the Hillary Victory Fund, a joint fund-raising entity shared by the candidate and national Democratic party.
This trip marks Clinton’s first to Massachusetts since she attended a Newton fund-raiser on March 31.
Last month the greater Boston area hosted three fund-raisers for the Clinton campaign. Former US attorney general Eric Holder and her campaign chairman, John Podesta, spoke on her behalf at those events.
