Warren, Sanders join House sit-in over gun control

Elizabeth Warren tweeted a photo of herself with Representatives Katherine Clark and John Lewis Twitter

Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders joined fellow Democrats in the House of Representatives for a sit-in over gun control on Wednesday.

Warren, who recently took part in a Senate filibuster to spur a vote on gun control measures, tweeted a photo from the House floor and said there was nowhere she would rather be on her birthday.

Several dozen Democrats, led by US Representatives Katherine Clark of Massachusetts and John Lewis, a longtime civil rights leader, demanded a vote on measures to expand background checks and block gun purchases by some suspected terrorists in the aftermath of last week’s massacre in Orlando that killed 49 people in a gay nightclub.

Among them were Joseph Kennedy III, Seth Moulton, and Jim McGovern.
