Even the president-elect wants the Patriots to win.
During a campaign donor dinner in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, Donald Trump gave a shoutout to Tom Brady and the Patriots.
Trump said the star quarterback had recently called him to offer congratulations. (Before the election, Trump had told a New Hampshire crowd that Brady had called him then to say he voted for him.)
At the Thursday night dinner, Trump also wished Patriots owner Robert Kraft — who he apparently pointed to in the audience — good luck.
“In the audience, we have somebody that’s under no pressure whatsoever, because he’s got a great quarterback named Tom Brady, and a great coach named Belichick,” Trump said, pointing to Kraft. “Your friend Tom just called, he feels good. He called to congratulate us. . . Good luck, you’re going to do great.”
In a New York Times feature published Thursday, Kraft said he considers Trump a great pal.
“Loyalty is important to me, and he has been a wonderful friend,” Kraft told the Times. “I think one of the great problems in the country today is the working poor, the middle class, that there hasn’t been growth in income on an equal basis, and I really think the policies he’s going to bring to bear are going to be great for the economic side of America.”
Kraft also attended the swanky Chairman’s Global Dinner on Tuesday night, and was even photographed with Trump aide Kellyanne Conway.
