Could the Mooch be back with a new media venture?
Anthony Scaramucci, who held a short-lived position as President Trump’s communications director earlier this summer, teased followers with a Twitter post Tuesday night announcing something called “The Scaramucci Post.”
The handle “@ScaramucciPost” has also been launched on both Twitter and Instagram, and Scaramucci seemed to hint that he wants the platforms to give the account a “verified” checkmark, which generally indicates a popular account is legitimate.
A visit to thescaramuccipost.com shows the logo that Scaramucci teased on social media — which is covered by a giant winky-face emoji. Clicking on the emoji brings users to the Twitter account for Yousef Khraibut, who appears to have a track record with media design (according to his LinkedIn page, a media website he founded eventually evolved into Uproxx Media.) Khraibut, who apparently now heads a product design company called Bedouin, could not immediately be reached for comment.
The Scaramucci Post website also appears to list an e-mail address and a line noting, “NOT 4 SALE.”
Scaramucci was ousted from the White House on July 31, 10 days after he was hired, after a New Yorker reporter published a story on a phone conversation with Scaramucci in which the then-communications head went on a profanity-laced rant.
Since then, Scaramucci hasn’t exactly been laying low. He granted interviews to media publications like The Huffington Post and appeared on TV shows to talk with first ABC’s George Stephanopoulos and then with CBS’s Stephen Colbert. He has also been tweeting and Instagram-ing up a storm — including a post that elicited a response from Monica Lewinsky — and has even put up photos of items poking fun at himself.
Meanwhile, the reactions to The Scaramucci Post’s announcement were, shall we say, mixed.
