    ‘It was awful. Brutal’: Photos from the scene in Toronto

    Nine people were killed and 16 were injured after a van apparently jumped onto a sidewalk Monday in Toronto and struck a crowd of pedestrians. The driver has been taken into custody.

    One witness reportedly said he saw people ‘‘strewn all over the road’’: ‘‘It was awful. Brutal.’’
