Will you vote on issues or values?

As you go into the voting booth, can you come up with one or two words that will determine how you vote?

That’s what I asked 500 voters from all along the political spectrum, and all across all 50 states. The results are in the accompanying word clouds. The larger the word, the more it was mentioned.

Top of mind for Republican voters are the policy issues, particularly the economy and immigration — no surprise given the events of the last week.

On the other hand, the words that are most prominent for Democrats are related to values, such as honesty and civility.
