A pothole on East Broadway in South Boston

RE “THE hole truth: They’re everywhere” (Page A1, Feb. 22): Potholes are a reality, and take time to fix, with major roads a priority. As a cautious driver who was surprised to find herself briefly marooned in a side street pothole last week, I have a modest proposal to increase safety on less-busy streets.

Police and good citizens could carry orange reflective paint, and they could outline potholes and then notify the local public works department. Drivers would be able to see the pothole, and then slow down to go though it without damage or go around it.
