letters | the world on edge over ukraine

We’ve got some nerve taking stand against invasion

I wouldn’t blame the Russians for being incredulous about our having the gall to admonish them for invading Ukraine. Our country is the modern gold medalist when it comes to invading foreign countries.

Let’s enumerate the list: Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Cuba, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and there’d probably be more if we weren’t running out of resources to conduct more such military escapades.

Ukraine isn’t exactly a foreign country in Russian eyes, and there haven’t been any reported casualties as a result of Russia’s move. Contrast that with the deadly slaughter associated with our crusading missions in the world, which have turned into a continuing tragedy in Iraq and Afghanistan.
