As a grandparent of students who graduated from and are in the Newton school system, I am incensed at the outcry over “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” The schools do an excellent job with multicultural education. Students today are so aware and sensitive to all types of discrimination. The musical was fiction, with historical situations that were well-handled. The biggest shame of all was the total lack of credit given to the incredibly talented kids who sang and danced their hearts out. You could not see better at a professional production.
Oh, by the way, how about a round of applause for the kids?
