I want to thank the Globe for highlighting a recurrent social problem. Yvonne Abraham’s column “While city sleeps, cat lady makes her rounds” ably informs us of the misery for cats and people that is caused by pet overpopulation.
We humans don’t want to have to see these homeless creatures, and they live a life of hunger and fear. A few good people, such as Joni Nelson and those who help her, and organizations, such as the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Charles River Alleycats, recognize the immensity of this problem.
I hope that Abraham’s column will cause more of us to want to do something about it.
