letters | A CRUNCHING OF NUMBERS IN PRESIDENTIAL RACE

About that business experience of Romney’s . . .

Mitt Romney and his supporters argue that he ought to be president because of the business experience he would bring to the job. Over the last 100 years, the three presidents whose experience most resembles his are George W. Bush (oil, baseball), Herbert Hoover (mining, secretary of commerce), and Warren G. Harding (newspaper publishing).

They brought the nation, respectively, the Iraq War and the Great Recession; the Great Depression; and the Teapot Dome scandal.

I think that their fellow Republican might wish to offer us another reason to put him in the office that they held.
