Consider full range of options to treat back pain

How could an article on back pain (“No cure for the pain,” G section, Oct. 29) not include chiropractic care? Currently about 7 percent of Americans use chiropractic care annually. Chiropractic care is safe, beneficial, cost-effective, and has high patient satisfaction.

Back pain is not just a nuisance for those suffering from it. Half of all working Americans have back pain each year, and it is among the most common reasons for missing work and for doctor appointments. The identifiable costs of back pain are estimated at $50 billion a year.

Greater use of chiropractic care for back pain could give tremendous benefit to those who suffer from it. It’s essential to provide the full range of treatment options to your readers.
