Clearing the air regarding gas-leak study

Regarding Beth Daley’s well-written article “3,300 gas leaks in city” (Page A1, Nov. 20): As lead author of the study cited in the article, I’d like to correct the description of the unnamed “assistant” who drove the 785 road miles of Boston with me. This person was not an assistant, but research partner and leak survey professional Bob Ackley of Gas Safety Inc. In many respects, I was his assistant, as I learned about gas leaks and natural gas distribution systems, including Boston’s.
