Mission is not to be custodian of historical objects, but to part of God’s work

The Bay Psalm Book owned by Old South Church is indeed a beautiful and historic volume. Under a new custodian, it will help Old South immeasurably with resources needed to be a strong progressive force, socially and spiritually, in the city of Boston and in the world. And the book will be treasured, and will continue to move and inspire.

I’m an active member of Old South, and enthusiastic about its ministries. The church’s mission is not to be the custodian of historical objects, but to be part of God’s work of mending the world.
