Report on mislabeled fish hooks the wrong culprit

The recent reporting on seafood labeling by Jenn Abelson and Beth Daley was narrow in its scope, and did not address the more pressing problems in regards to the seafood distribution chain in this country (“Accountability lost in a murky supply chain,” Page A1, Dec. 2).

The Globe missed a great opportunity to expose some of the shady practices that exist in the restaurant business by calling out North Coast Seafoods, one of the few companies recognized within our industry as a leader in exposing improperly labeled items on menus. You reinforced the faulty message that restaurants don’t know what they are buying, when in fact they often do.
