Drone attack or NYC trial — decisions, decisions

I am utterly confused by the legal and military criteria that are applied to terrorists. The nation sends drone attacks to eliminate potentially threatening individuals in other countries without due process in any court, but a former lead spokesman for terrorists will receive a trial in federal court in New York.

I hope that the promise not to use drones on domestic soil is legitimate, or the Manhattan courtroom could be hit with one. How are officials going to decide?
