Shameful biases are what made Sox losers for decades

in his March 7 letter “Let us speak of true baseball ruthlessness,” regarding the New York Yankees’ “ruthlessness” and the Boston Red Sox’ 86 years of frustration, Rick Schrenker fails to recognize the truth behind those many years without a championship.

As Dan Shaughnessy and many others have pointed out, it was NOT the trade of the Bambino but the Red Sox organization’s inherent racism, anti-Semitism, alcoholism, and cronyism that doomed the hometown nine those many years when Tom Yawkey owned the team.

Every time someone repeats the myth of the so-called curse that came with the sale of Babe Ruth to the Yankees, a new generation is ignorant of the Sox’ shameful past.
