Some parents were insufferable before Facebook, too

RE “PARENTS get competitive on college” (Page A1, April 12):

Parental competitiveness regarding their kids’ college admission long precedes the posts about acceptance letters on Facebook mentioned in Beth Teitell’s article.


A friend of ours still remembers when all but one of her friends would talk about their sons and daughters being back “from college,” while that one invariably would say her boys were back “from Harvard and Yale.”
