Rivals not entitled to church platform

THERE WERE three letters in the Globe July 1 decrying Cardinal Sean P. O’Malley’s decision to prevent the Rev. Helmut Schuller, a dissident priest, from speaking on Catholic church property.

There’s another side to the argument. Let me reduce it to its simplest form: If a Chevrolet dealer refused to have a Ford representative speak at his dealership on why Ford had a better model, would the Chevrolet dealer be considered unreasonable?

I leave it to readers to answer that question for themselves.
