City should greet new arts festival

RE “TED Cutler’s thinking way outside the box” (Page A1, June 30):

Let me make sure that I’ve got this straight. Ted Cutler, a self-made philanthropic guy — born, raised, and living in the area, paying local taxes, enjoying many friends, not asking for any special favors — is actively supporting and personally managing an event that will benefit the city, perhaps for years. But instead of a salute, some arts community figures are describing his Outside the Box festival as if it were something less than what it was intended to be, and in fact is.

Shame on those so-called friends, and the earlier advocates who want to micromanage the event. Cutler is making a magnificent contribution for a great cause, and is working his rear off to make sure that the results reflect his vision.
