letters | our parking spaces, ourselves

What’s a $200 bike rack in a city with soaring costs?

In your article about the lack of bicycle parking, you said that bike racks are not cheap, noting that one that accommodates two bikes costs $150 to $200 (“Bicycle-parking blues,” Page A1, July 8).

This may not sound cheap.

But garage parking spaces for cars cost tens of thousands of dollars each. And a tandem spot in the Back Bay?That could run you more than a half a million dollars.

Compared with parking a car, a bike rack is a steal.
