Boston work certainly won’t be done in a New York minute
Your July 16 editorial regarding the closure and restoration of the Longfellow Bridge and its effect on traffic into and out of Boston made me think of another construction project (“Practice for the future?”).
The excavation of the site of the Empire State Building began in January 1930. The opening of the 102-story structure took place about 16 months later.
It appears that we have taken a step backward in our construction techniques.
