letters | a closer look at the ‘try god’ billboard

We get God’s message, but the effort is up to us

In Dan Wasserman’s Aug. 16 editorial cartoon a man observes a billboard that reads, “TRY GOD.” He then looks at a newspaper headline about war, famine, and disease, and then alters the billboard to read, “TRY, GOD.”

All of these terrible things in the world, of course, could be overcome by man if he chose to obey the message of love and brotherhood from the very same God he blames for his problems.

The altered billboard should read, “TRY HARDER, MAN.”
