To strike or do nothing? That in itself is the wrong question

Re “Case grows for a Syria strike, but US strategy must be clear” (Editorial, Aug. 31): You claim that President Obama faces a choice to strike Syria or do nothing. Really? Those are the only two choices?

What about energetic and sustained diplomacy? Enlisting the assistance of experienced peace and human rights negotiators? Working with the international community to stop the flow of arms into Syria? Involving the International Criminal Court?

Those who want to narrow the options to violence or inaction betray a dangerous lack of imagination when the world desperately needs leaders who can demonstrate creativity in the face of global turmoil.
