Mike Ross brought leadership to firefighters’ dispute

Re “Might-be mayors on fire reform” (Op-ed, Sept. 4): Scot Lehigh indicated that Mike Ross’s mayoral campaign finessed answers to the columnist’s questions about reforming the Boston Fire Department. That was not my experience in working with Ross on the firefighters’ arbitration dispute.

Ross, then president of the Boston City Council, led the effort to bring this difficult and controversial case to a fair and successful resolution.

I am not contributing to, working for, or endorsing any particular candidate for mayor. I admired the leadership and courage that Ross brought to the process and the respect from all the parties he maintained throughout.
