Catholic schools have the right to uphold Catholic beliefs

IF MILTON Valencia had spent more time at Fontbonne Academy, he would have seen a diverse student body who are encouraged to be themselves and grow into the young women they are meant to be (“Bias alleged over same-sex marriage,” Page A1, Jan. 30). The school’s moral compass is the four Rs — respect, reverence, reconciliation, and responsibility.

But, the school is a Catholic organization. The original founders of the United States came to this country for religious freedom. The First Amendment of our Constitution protects that freedom. Massachusetts and the Boston area played an integral part in this history. It is a shame that some people conveniently ignore these facts.
