It is infuriating to hear that completion of the planned Southampton Street homeless shelter is way behind schedule (“Shelter won’t be ready for months,” Page A1, March 28).
What’s infuriating is not that the shelter has required more work than expected or that some materials took longer to arrive than hoped, as officials have said.
It’s that you know that if this were a building project for the Boston 2024 Olympics and there were some problems getting it done on time, calls would be made, arms would be twisted, and cash would be flying so fast and thick it’d make your head spin. And that project would get done on time.
But a homeless shelter?
Well . . .
