Perhaps we live in an age where we are all free to self-identify
I’m confused. The last few weeks I have been hearing from every media source imaginable about the pain of hiding your true self, and the courage required for people to transition from the identity assigned to them at birth to live as the one they truly believe themselves to be.
So why the outrage over Rachel Dolezal (“Spokane NAACP head Rachel Dolezal steps down”), who apparently has made a transition so successfully that she rose to prominence at an organization that advocates for the group she apparently identifies as?
If the genitalia you are born with no longer define your gender, why should the skin color you are born with define your race?
